Windows proxy setup
Windows has one proxy setting that Edge, Chrome and many other apps follow. It takes a host and port only, so apps ask for the login themselves, or you whitelist your IP.

Before you start
Three things to have ready.
Your proxy line
Copy the host, port, username and password from the generator in your dashboard. The examples use Eternal Residential: et.vantixproxy.com, port 1000.
HTTP proxies
The Windows setting is for HTTP proxies. For SOCKS5, set it inside the app itself, such as Firefox or Telegram.
A way to check

Step 1: Turn on the proxy
Add the host and port in Settings. Leave the local-addresses box ticked so printers and routers on your own network still work.

Edge and Chrome ask for the proxy username and password in a pop-up. Apps that cannot show a pop-up just fail, so whitelist your IP in the dashboard and they connect without a login.

Firefox has its own proxy setting, and many games, command-line tools and background services ignore the system proxy. Services that use WinHTTP can copy the setting from an administrator Command Prompt.

Where do I enter the username and password?
Windows has no field for them. Browsers ask in a pop-up the first time they connect. For everything else, whitelist your IP in the dashboard.
Why do some apps not use the proxy?
Many apps connect directly and ignore the Windows setting. Set the proxy inside the app if it has an option, or use an app’s own proxy support, such as Telegram or Firefox.
Can Windows use a SOCKS5 proxy?
Not from its settings. Use SOCKS5 inside apps that support it, such as Firefox, Telegram or an anti-detect browser.
The internet stopped working after I set the proxy. Why?
Usually a wrong host or port, or an app that cannot log in. Check the endpoint on the network status page, whitelist your IP, or switch the proxy off to get back online.
How do I turn it off?
Settings > Network & internet > Proxy, then switch Use a proxy server off.
Which proxy is best for Windows?
