Why Reddit blocks so much ordinary traffic
Reddit has tightened access to its site and its data, and server traffic takes most of the hit.

Read Reddit at volume, politely
Most public Reddit pages also come as JSON: add .json to the URL. It is far lighter than the full page. Rotate IPs across requests, send a User-Agent that names your tool, and keep a pause between calls.

Why does Reddit show me a network block page?
Reddit blocks many datacenter and VPN ranges outright. A residential or mobile IP usually loads the page normally.
Should I use the Reddit API or public pages?
The API suits apps and moderate volumes within its limits. For broad research across many subreddits, teams often read public pages through rotating residential IPs.
Can I post from rotating IPs?
It is not a good idea. An account that appears from a new IP on every request looks hijacked, and moderators notice. Use a static IP for each account you post from.
How much bandwidth does Reddit research use?
