Why ad verification needs proxies
An ad is only what the target audience is shown. From your office IP you are not the target audience.
Ads are targeted by location
Campaigns serve different creatives, offers and landing pages by country and city. You can only verify a placement from inside the area it targets.
Ad servers filter server traffic
Ad networks recognise datacenter IPs and serve them something else, or nothing at all. Residential and mobile IPs are served the real ad.
Fraud hides from the advertiser
Cloaked landing pages, hijacked redirects and fake placements are shown to ordinary visitors and hidden from known company addresses. Look like an ordinary visitor.

Check an ad from the visitor’s location
Set the country, and the region or city if the campaign is local. Use a sticky session so the ad, the click-through and the landing page are all seen from the same IP. The example uses the Eternal Residential format.

What is ad verification?
Checking that ads appear where, how and to whom they were bought: the placement, the creative, the location, the landing page and the redirects in between. It is also how advertisers and networks catch fraud. For search results rather than ads, see SEO proxies.
Which proxy is best for ad verification?

Why not use datacenter proxies?
Ad servers and cloaking scripts recognise server IP ranges and show them a different result. Datacenter proxies are the right tool for fast crawling, not for seeing what a real visitor sees.

Should I use rotating or sticky sessions?
Use a sticky session, up to 60 minutes, to follow one visitor journey from ad to landing page. Rotate when you want to sample what many different visitors are shown.
